Press Team Sweet WaterJr. Ski to Sea team raises money for great cause

 

Whether or not Team Sweet Water wins the elementary school girls’ division in the Junior Ski to Sea, these six third-graders are already huge winners.

What else can you call six girls who have been ambitious enough to raise more than $4,000 for Bellingham-based Evangeline International’s Ethiopian water wells project?

“But we’re going to race hard. We’re going all out to win!” said 8-year-old Jayden Soulier, daughter of Evangeline International founder Angi Soulier.

Even though they are only a few dollars short of their pre-race fund-raising goal of $4,200 — the cost of labor and equipment to construct a deep, hand-dug well in a rural area of Ethiopia — the six girls hope to inspire community members to add to the pot during festivities at Lake Padden Park on Saturday, May 19.  Read More »
